What is Venetian Plaster? It is an ancient art practiced by the Venitians as an alternative to marble or stone. The finish can be mirror smooth, or rough and textured. Either way, you get the random "highs" and "lows" of a stone finish.

Venetian Plaster is not drywall "mud" or ordinary plaster. It is finely ground Italian marble and lime dust, combined with coloring pigment. Unlike paints or other finishes, Venetian Plaster does not fade and is guaranteed for 10-15 years.

The cost of application ranges widely, depending on the product and labor needed to create the desired finish. On the less expensive side we can use products such as Lusterstone, Silkstone, or Shimmerstone. These give a glistening sheen and an interesting textured appearance.


When stepping up to true Venetian Plaster imported from Italy, the number of layers determines the finish and dimension desired, and the cost increases accordingly.

Surface hardening takes place for a few days. The finished surface is literally a layer of stone on your wall more durable than drywall and less than an 1/8th of an inch thick.

Italian Plasters will not knick like wallpaper or drywall. Color combinations are endless and can range from reds, terracottas, sandy marble, rich ivories, pale greens to white, or any color you choose! It evokes a sense of Mediterranean history while remaining very contemporary.

A Venetian Plaster that has been burnished to a smooth sheen provides years of enjoyment. And unlike traditional "knock down" or rough textured surfaces, it can easily be covered with a different color of Venetian Plaster, or even painted over as your decor changes.
